THE NUNS STARTED THEIR DAILY ROUTINE AFTER NEW YEAR
16TH MARCH 2017
From today, the nuns will resume their daily activities after a long break of Tibetan new year.
The nuns started their day by morning prayer at 5:30am followed by memorizing the text till 9 o'clock, they then vigorously engage in their mindful practice of debating between the groups until before the lunch break at 11o'clock.
From 11:30am to 1:30pm, the nuns will get into their different classes, some will have Science class while others will attend English class and most of the new nuns will practice Tibetan handwriting.
The nuns will take a short nap in between and resume their Tibetan Grammar class from 3:pm to 5:pm.
After their dinner at 5 o'clock, the nuns will gather for evening prayer till 8:00pm. Then the nuns will engage in their interactive debate till 11:pm.
Here ends their daily schedules.The nuns will go to bed after doing their personal prayers.
The nuns with their science teacher miss Tashi Lhamo, having an interactive revision
period by exchanging the question and answers on the previous taught subject, they
actively participates and discuss on the given topic with much anticipation.
His Holiness Bestowing Novice Ordination vows to our Nuns
Another blessful moment is when all of our 27 nuns who went to get novice ordination (Samaneri) from His Holiness Dalai Lama at Dharamsala has already became Ordained Novice nun on March 6, 2017.
His Holiness bestowed the Novice Ordination Vows for number of new monks and nuns so, our nuns are lucky enough to get this oppotunity and successfully gained the novice Ordination from His Holiness the Dalai Lama at his residence.
Geshema ‘Ngawang Choekyi’ attended the 4th Arya Kshema Winter Gathering at Bodhgaya
One of our Geshema ‘Ngawang Choekyi’ attended the 4th Arya Kshema Winter Gathering at Bodhgaya, where Gyalwa Karmapa welcomes about 560 Nuns from seven different scholastic colleges along with their teachers presented.
This Winter Gathering is held from 6th March to 19th March. The nuns from different Shedra participated in these fourteen days of teachings, debate and ritual ceremonies.
The nuns from seven shedras will be competing for the first time so His Holiness the Karmapa has invited three of Geshema, as judge for this debate competition. The Geshemas had recently passed all the exams of Geshema degree and has got recognition from His Holiness the Dalai Lama. His Holiness the Karmapa remarked that having these brilliant nuns as judge indicates our respect for them and also inspires other nuns to attain the highest level of excellence.
After years of research and discussion, His Holiness the Karmapa related, we will start the historic path to full ordination for nuns in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. This year Dharmagupta nuns from Nan Lin Nunnery in Lantou on the west coast of Taiwan will assist in giving the Getsulma (novice) vows which will be held for one year. Afterward the Gelopma (special vows), which are held for two winters or two summers, will be given, and finally the full ordination of the Gelongma vows. The Karmapa emphasized the importance of following a graduated path and going carefully step-by-step to build a strong foundation.
The Enthronement Ceremony of Our New Abbot Geshe Lobsang Tsultrim
Today on this auspicious day, March 29, 2017, we held the enthronement ceremony of our new Abbot ‘Khen Rinpoche’ Geshe Lobsang Tsultrim la from Gaden Jangtse Monastery. From today onwards, He will be taking the position of Abbot of our nunnery for three years.
We the nuns of Jangchub Choeling heartily welcome Khenpo Lobsang Tsultrim la in our nunnery and we hope our relation stays well- founded and together we will work towards the betterment of this nunnery and spread Dharma as far as we could.
Our past three years Abbot (Khenpo), Geshe Jampa Tashi has taken great responsibility of this nunnery and provide us growing attention in every field. He also serves as our grateful teacher for many years. We are very grateful towards his every effort in making us upright and his extreme dedication towards our welfare and studies are highly appreciable.
We would like to thank our beloved Khenpo Jampa Tashi for being such a great teacher and guide. We hope he continues to inspire other people and may his endeavors get rewarded.
